We arrived to Chinese border last night. Overall, it went a bit faster thant the Russian-Mongolian border, although the most of us had to show our belongings for the Chinese border officer, who appeared to be quite nice otherwise. The basic coupon filling and searching the train for illegal immigrants was again expected. We waited at this Erlian station, in which the first Yuan-accepting (and a what a store it was) store was located. It was pretty late, so we just sat around in front of the station talking to some Swedish and Australian dude (Campbell) (funny accent by the way :) ). Exceptionally nice fellows, talking about their stay in Mongolia and so on.
The little Chinese conductor gave us these free breakfast and lunch tickets for the last day yesterday evening. The Chinese car offered two eggs and toasts for breakfast; for lunch it was too meat balls, cabbage and some rice. Not much, but it was a kind offer and actually went down pretty well.
The rest of the trip went in a waiting kind of atmosphere, when we would see the final destination, Beijing. Some had seen also the great wall somewhere on that day, but apparently had been so far away that it was not that exciting. So, packing all the stuff and preparing for the Beijing was the word of the day.
Finally, there it was.. First it appeared pretty small, but little by little the Beijing revealed itself to us. Everything seemed quite massive but not that crowded.. We were wrong.
At the Beijing main station - as I mentioned earlier - we gave these little gifts of roubles for our conductors. After that we said goodbye to all of our dear co-passengers went along our own ways.
