Zhou mo yu kuai!

Our teacher gave us a homework for the weekend: ask some Chinese persons whether they consider north-Chinese or south-Chinese more humorous people (the assignment in pinyin was this exactly: Ni jue de bei fang ren bi nan fang ren geng you mo ma?). As one might guess, I could not understand most of the stuff they were saying, but I catched some key words, with which I could infer the answer. They considered north-Chinese people to be more jollier. Of course I asked these questions on Friday night, when not exactly in a sober condition. Speaking of which...

We spent Friday night with the Finnish gang plus Ruslan, Olivia, Nick, Russell. First at Helen's then off to Dao-club, which we already visited on Tuesday (came back to the dorms at 4 a.m. then :) ), and after getting too much sound pressure from the all-too-loud loudspeakers, we headed for Sanliturrrr, where we visited a few bars. T'was a street filled with meatskewer vendors, bars side by side and lots of black people apparently trying to sell something not so legal stuff. The bars we visited were quite OK, and they actually played some techno-kind-of stuff there. Evening ended well with Jani and me returning by taxi to the dorms at 6 a.m.

Saturday it was Jaan and Marit's turn to receive some attention :) Or they, of course, gave it to us in their benevolence. Anyways, we hanged out at Helen's and talked a lot of crazy stuff, after which we changed the venue to D22, a live-band rock bar, which supports these young talents and houses many of Wudaokou's alternative style supporters. Damn fine place, a nice addition to the Wudaokou's otherwise dull bar scene (with the exception of Helen's of course [and Lush for 2-4 a.m. 15 kuai burgers]).

Today I and Antti went to Beijing Capital Museum, which was OK I guess for the price, because it was free. It presented the Beijingers old way of life and stuff, but unfortunately there was no stuff from outside Beijing.

Silja has some good pics of the D-22, but I've been lazy with the camera, so I just have few pics from here and there. Enjoy!
