Alive

Despite the fact that I got ill on Thursday (although the symptoms were visible already on Monday in the form of diarrhea) and thus dis skip school on Friday, I am now feeling much better (Sunday). I was still a bit skeptical - to say the least - yesterday when I was feeling only half-recovered and knowing there would be Silja's birthday aftermath in the evening. But as the Finnish proverb and its bad translation goes: "that which can not be cured with tar, alcohol or sauna is lethal". So I endeavoured with the middle choice, and the result: feeling healthy as an ox. Famous final words probably.

In short, yesterday evening we hanged out in Silja's dorm with Silja, me, Jani, Antti, Momo, Marit, Jaan and Nick (and for a very short time one of Nick's friends). Nick is an American open-minded guy, who is very well aware of the state of his country (and the world), plus he is also Silja's, Marit's and Jaan's classmate. So, anyway we were playing "I have never" -game, in which you say something like "I have never *somethingperverted*" and if somebody has, he/she has to drink. Fun and very...mind-unraveling and good for getting to know the people you're hanging out with. After some crazy playing and my sweat-filled and dizziness-causing trip to the local supermarket at 11:15 P.M. we left for Wudaokou to try out the local KTV, which is basically karaoke in China. A huge room with comfortable red couches, big screen and annoingly loud sound system (which, of course when you think of it afterwards, could have been turned off to a bit more lower level). I did not find that many songs for myself from there, and the queuing system did not always function, so I just mostly hanged out and sang along. It was veeery fun though :)

Going backwards in time I got sick on Thursday after kung fu class, fever rose up to 38.0 (degreed of C) in the highest and I thought that I have H1N1. Well, don't know it still but I tried to the best of my abilities to avoid the cleaner ladies (who come everyday) and all the other "authorities" that could send me to some god dam hospital quarantine zone, and I'd waste my time there. I'd rather die in my bed, thank you! Anywho, I think I infected my roommate Ruslan, who is as we speak in not such a good shape :(. I hope he gets better soon, and also that I won't get ill again.

From Silja's blog you can check out what happened on Silja's actual birthday on Wednesday, it was fun night that also.

It was quite a hussle to figure how the Chinese delivery system works. I ordered a small external hard drive, because my space was running low on my laptop. The delivery guy sent me messages in Chinese, which my Nokia can not display, so all I could see was blocks in the SMS. I sent this message to a phone that could display the text, after which I asked my laoshi (Chinese teacher) to decipher it for me. Still I did not get it because the text message said my packet is in some building 2. So I went there but apparently the delivery guy only hangs there for a certain amount of time, so better luck next time. I got a text message on the same day just as I was dining in the cafeteria, no idea what the message contains, but of course I supposed that it must be the same guy and hanging out in the building 2. So I rushed there and there was a whole bunch of delivery guys, of which one of them was my guy, having showed the number on the SMS to every other delivery guy just to identificate the one who sent this to me. SOH, I got my HD:

And now I'll just sit back and relax and wait for my Pyro Pizza to come... no exercise this week basically, but hey you can't do sports every week, right..? Right!

I'll add some moa pics when I receive them; this week I was lazy in this regard.

Signing off.
